The challenge

Farmers in the Ghed region experienced complete crop destruction following severe flooding. The exact causes of the damage were unclear, making it essential to identify the root cause of crop failure so farmers could reclaim their land and resume farming.

How we investigated

The farmers provided two samples for analysis, which we tested in our NABL-accredited laboratory for the key water and soil quality indicators that affect crop health:

  • Water from the Ozat River, collected post-flood.
  • Soil from the affected farmland.

The findings

The investigation revealed dangerously elevated concentrations of several parameters that are harmful to soil health and water quality — directly compromising agricultural productivity:

  • COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand)
  • TDS (Total Dissolved Solids)
  • Chloride
  • Sulphate
  • Iron

The outcome

The detailed test report was compiled and covered by multiple media outlets. That coverage enabled farmers to present the findings to the local Collector’s office, demonstrating the need for government intervention and support in rehabilitating the affected farmlands.
